Life Portrait Drawing

Me drawing someone elses face than my own for a change
Last weekend, I attended a life portrait drawing session. It was so much fun, and the model was a super nice lady, dressed in bright pink. It was a 4 hour session, and before I went there, I was thinking I could never fill 4 full hours, but they flew by and I ended up making 3 drawings during this exercise. It was great to have someone patiently modelling, a wonderful change for once, as Im often using my own face for portraits.

These portraits were all done using basic techniques with graphite pencils, like the blending technique and the rendering technique, and you might be amazed how easy they are if you tried them. You can learn to draw like this too!! Have a look by clicking here, and if you enroll today, theres a 10% discount on top of all the fun!

Drawing journal A hat

Hats are awesome. They are great to protect you from the sun, and they can make you look very cool. This one does both for me :)
Its so nice to take the time and look at an object for a while to draw it. It feel so good, holding just a sketchbook, a pencil and an eraser and get focused on the shapes, the lines, the shadows. Forgetting about time and surroundings while doing so is called flow. When I was making this drawing, I realized how lucky I am to be able to inspire and teach others to do so too.

Daily drawing journal

Tangerines are so tasty around this time of year! I think Im a bit addicted to eating them. Theres something satisfying about peeling them as well, just like cracking nuts. (Is it just me or is it almost impossible to stop, once starting peeling peanuts?)
Anyways, when I enjoy something so much, its worth a drawing in my daily drawing journal. I drew the outline of this mandarin peel with a red pencil, then coloured it, using watercolours.

Just 2 days left of 2013... whoa that went fast! I wish you a wonderful new year in advance!

ps. remember the mysterious project I am so excited about? We are almost ready to reveal what its all about, so if you want to be kept in the loop, leave your name and email below.
