The Souffle Girl! Its a Who ednesday !
Doctor Whos (Oswin) Oswald/Clara/SouffleGirl

Slight spoilers from the last season and 2012 Doctor Who Christmas Special ahead...
Well in the last Doctor Who Christmas Special, we got a good introduction to Clara (Oswin) Oswald (played by Jenna Louise Coleman) whos a mysterious girl with a way of seemingly dying but showing up elsewhere in time with a different life, but still herself - not completely unlike the Doctor himself. Interesting.
Anyway, more versions of Clara-Oswin-Oswald-Souffle-Girl-Whoever-She-Is coming soon!
For some reader submitted art today, heres Joes take on some Punx drawings. Looks like he had fun! Thanks Joe!

By The Power Of Grayskull
He-man, Skeletor, He-man (Cartoon version)

Man I loved these guys.
I loved raising a stick over my head and yelling "I HAVE THE POOOWWWERRRR!
I loved seeing a young man surge with energy and become a legendary warrior.
I loved the feeling I got just by holding the chunky toys in my hand.
I loved the mountain of Masters of the Universe weapons lying on the floor.
I loved the bold image of He-Man mounted upon the faithful Battle-Cat.
I loved that Castle!
I loved being a kid.

Introducing Bobby the Bobcat
Well, the model is actually very gender neutral, so it could be a girl, too. But I started calling it Bobby a while ago, so now its just a habit.
Originally, I was just going to post some stills of the model once I got his textures back on him, but instead Ive got something better: a turnaround video. I found it when digging through my old files. It was made a little over two years ago, on February 15, 2010. Here it is:
Ive got to make some tweaks to the model (some areas look too square), and then Im going to get to rigging. The whole experience should be pretty interesting, since the last time I used Blender it was just 2.49b. Now it looks completely different. On top of that, Ive been using Maya for months. Im setting all my Blender presets to Maya, but that makes it a little difficult to follow some tutorials. Oh, well. Ill figure it all out.
Until next time!

WHOsdays The Doctor Christopher Eccleston
The Ninth Doctor

Heh heh, I remember first seeing the nu-Who on CBC here in Canada several years back. I knew very little about Doctor Who at the time and I thought "What the heck is this? Doctor Who is supposed to have big hair and a long scarf!!"
Obviously I had a lot to learn, but having seen all of the ninth Doctor now, Im not sure the best way to describe him. Optimistic? Tragic? Childlike? Sorrowful?
At any rate, thanks for your help bringing the ol Doc back to us, Mr. Eccleston!
Oh, and enjoy the new Doctor Who Special this weekend!!

Doctor Who The Second Doctor!
Patrick Troughton as the 2nd Doctor

Well heres another one of the Doctors (and his flute...correction, its a recorder!) from Doctor Who - the second iteration, played Patrick Troughton. His is a Doctor that many hold dear today, and Matt Smith (the current Doctor) has even cited Troughton as his favorite Doctor, so there you go!
And now for some art from friends of SP! Check out this cool art by Patrick! He has done his version of the first Doctor, and he has even turned yours truly into a Futurama style head-in-a-jar!

Noel from Its A Dawgs Life wanted to share his take on the Scooby Doo gang. Nice!

The TICK!
The TICK!

My introduction to the Tick was the fantastically hilarious Tick Animated Series. It was just so outrageously bizarre, what with its crazy dialogue and villains inspired by household objects or farm animals. The live-action show was even enjoyable for what it was, albeit short lived.

The Cute Bunny is Finished!
I finished my Cute Bunny model! Thats what Im calling him until I can think of a good name. Anyway, hes all rigged and tested and ready to go! Hes really a lot of fun to animate! After all those problems with Bobby, it was nice to make something that didnt fight me every step of the way. Rigify helped a lot with that. I still had to adjust and add on rig pieces, but it really sped the whole process up tons.
Here are some screenshots of the Bunny, with and without his rig and jacket.

Heres a new turntable:
And a walk cycle:
And finally, an example of how his jacket reacts to movement.
You should definitely expect to see more of this guy in the future. I want to try compositing him into a photo, and do some lipsync with him. Id also like to be able to animate him with his jacket. That shouldnt be too much of a problem, render-wise, as Ive set up a tiny sort of render farm! Its just this computer (my stronger 64-bit Windows 7) and my last computer (an out-of-the-box 32-bit Windows Vista). I transfer files between them with a USB stick, because I cant get the Vista online. The Vista renders slower, but its still nice to be able to share render loads with another computer.
Anyway, if you want to animate this little Bunny, too, he is now for sale on Turbosquid.
Until next time!
The First Avenger!
Captain America (movie version)

Well its a new year, and I thought it might be fun to look ahead to some of the movies that are coming in 2011.
It seems like theyre investing a lot of energy in this Captain America; The First Avenger movie. As far as casting, I dont mind Chris Evans at all actually, I find him to be a pretty likable guy. Heres hoping that it all pays off!

Batman (from new "Beware The Batman" show)

The new "Beware The Batman" CGI cartoon premiered this last weekend, and while its certainly a different take on a Batman cartoon, I thought it was kinda cool. Im willing to give it time and see where it goes.

The Dark Knight Begins
Batman (Batman Begins), Scarecrow, Batman (The Dark Knight), The Joker

I thought "Batman Begins" was great. Like many critics said - they got Batman right. Leaving behind the neon campiness, Batman now had an epic and engaging story commited to the silver screen.
At the end of "Batman Begins," they gave us an exciting glimpse of what we could expect for the next movie - which would go on to be "The Dark Knight" featuring the Joker. My questions about Heath Ledger taking on the Joker seem to have been answered, he looks to have put in an amazing performance. Its a shame hes not around to see how much people are buzzing about what hes done here.
Im also excited by the way Christopher Nolan has been approaching these movies and the fact that hes not relying much on CGI. I hope he sticks around for a third one.
Anyway, these Punx were fun to put together, Batman art is some of my favorite stuff to do.
